Company that produce, design, test, and assemble electronic components and assembly for original equipment manufacturers are identified as electronic manufacturing services.
The original equipment manufacturers, usually termed as OEMs, maintain the ownership of the said product design and brand names. Electronic Manufacturing services sometimes branch out into electronic contract manufacturing, and specialize in rapid prototyping and product testing.

In the surface mount technology (SMT), components are added to a PCB by soldering terminals or component leads to the top surface of the board.
